Children's Dentistry

childrens dentist auburn opelika ALWe welcome children of all ages! Creating a dental health routine and teaching good oral hygiene habits early can help your child keep their smile healthy for a lifetime.

Your Child's First Visit to the Dentist
A positive first dental experience is a MUST in our office – we will teach both you and your child how to make brushing and healthy eating habits easy and fun! Read more about Your First Visit.

We have found that young children (pre-school and elementary age) are most comfortable seeing us in the morning; the dental environment is a much more interesting adventure after a good night’s rest!

As Your Child Grows Up
At periodic intervals during your child’s growth, we will recommend a "panoramic" xray. Combined with an oral examination, this digital image of the teeth and jaw structures helps us monitor development of permanent teeth and address any orthodontic conditions.

Dr. Simmons and Dr. Reynolds have had considerable experience in children's dental care, and are happy to answer any questions you may have about thumb sucking, snoring, pacifiers, bedtime bottles, sportsguards, or crowded or missing teeth.

Preventative Care
We recommend that children been seen at least twice yearly for routine examination, necessary digital xrays and cleanings. We may also recommend fluoride treatments or dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay.

Primary (baby) Teeth
Early loss of baby teeth can lead to problems with development and alignment of permanent teeth. If a cavity develops in a baby tooth, our dentists may treat the tooth with a filling or, in the case of deep decay, place medication in the nerve of the tooth and cover it with a pediatric dental crown to maintain its position.

  • If the tooth is lost prematurely, we are able to place a space maintainer to hold the space until the permanent tooth fully develops.

www.mouthhealthy.org for more information about Children's Dental Health.

In some cases, if your child is anxious about coming to the dentist or has extensive needs, we may recommend a children's dental specialist, a Pediatric Dentist, to achieve the best possible experience for your child.

If you have questions about your child's dental health, please do not hesitate to Contact Us. We would be glad to help!
